Getting Started

MyScripps is a new tool that makes your health records accessible at any time, from any computer. MyScripps lets you:

- Access health information
- Correspond with your provider’s office
- Request and view upcoming appointments
- Request clinical summaries
- View lab and test results
- Track blood pressure, weight, cholesterol and blood glucose levels
- Request prescription renewals
MyScripps also allows you to view and manage your authorized family members’ health records.
No. MyScripps is a free service for all of our patients.
To enroll in MyScripps and take advantage of all the free benefits, ask your check-in staff at your next visit to Scripps Clinic or Scripps Coastal Medical Group for a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to enroll.
MyScripps may be accessed directly from the web browser of your smartphone or tablet. No app is required.

PINs

To enroll in MyScripps and take advantage of all the free benefits, ask your check-in staff at your next visit to Scripps Clinic or Scripps Coastal Medical Group for a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to enroll.
With your PIN in hand, navigate to MyScripps and click Enroll Now, or navigate to MyScripps.org/Enrollment.
Please fill out the form below and we will resolve the issue.
No. Each PIN is unique to one person and can only be used once.
If you require another PIN number for any reason, ask your check-in staff at your next visit to Scripps Clinic or Scripps Coastal Medical Group for another Personal Identification Number (PIN) to enroll.
No. Your PIN number is a one-time use code that allows your profile to be created. Each PIN is specific to each person, can only be used once, and deactivates after use.

Access, Enrollment, and Security

A. Go to MyScripps: www.myscripps.org
B. Click on “Enroll with PIN.”
C. Read the Terms and Conditions and check the box. Click “Proceed.”
D. Click on “Enroll With PIN.”
E. Enter required information. Click “Next.”
F. Enter your email address. Click “Next.”
G. Create your username and password. (See tips below for username and password requirements). Answer at least 3 of the security questions. Click “Next.”
H. Congratulations. Your profile has been created successfully.

Username Tips:
- No longer than 35 characters
- May not contain spaces

Password Tips:
- Must be at least six (6)characters in length, but not more than 15 characters
- Cannot contain the username
- Must contain three of the following:
--- An uppercase letter
--- A lowercase letter
--- A numeral
--- A non-alphanumeric character (such as: !@#$%&*)
This can be caused by having a “#” symbol in the address field. Remove the “#” symbol and replace it with either “unit” or “apt” and you will be able to move forward.
If you have forgotten your username, click on the link below the login button on the MyScripps home page. When you accurately answer the security questions you set up when you enrolled, your username will be emailed to you at the address on file for your account. Alternatively, you may reset your account in person at the Health Information department within your Scripps Clinic or Scripps Coastal Medical Group location.

Refreshing your browser window will bring up a different question. If you are unable to answer any of the security questions, you will need to go to Health Information at a Scripps Clinic or Scripps Coastal location.

To protect your privacy, MyScripps will automatically log you out after ten minutes of inactivity.
Patient privacy and security is our number one priority. All data exchanged is encrypted at the highest level and safeguarded throughout the entire process. Once you are enrolled, MyScripps’ secure login enables you to connect and authenticate using credentials established during enrollment. Your access is secured using a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificate.

MyScripps for My Family

After you open your own MyScripps account, you will be able to link to the rest of your family members through the Family Account (PDF, 172 KB) process. Please note: Minors under the age of 12 can obtain a unique PIN at their provider’s office or the nearest Health Information location; to receive a PIN for a spouse and other legal adults in your family, the patient must complete a “Designation of Personal Representative” (DPR) form at your provider’s office or your nearest Scripps Health Information location.
Yes. Your family member’s health record may be linked to your own if a Designation of Personal Representative (DPR) form is on file or you are a legal guardian of a minor under the age of 12.
No. Each PIN is unique to one person and can only be used once.
Yes. A PIN can be sent to the same email for two (or more) different people.
In California, when minors reach the age of 12, they have a legal right to health information privacy. If a minor has an account tied to a parent’s account, that account will be unlinked and suspended when he or she reaches the age of 12. The patient may re-enroll in MyScripps on or after their 18th birthday.
If you require another PIN number for any reason, such as family account linking, then please see Health Information typically located at the check-in desk of your physician’s office in order for a new PIN to be generated.

Profile Information

A. From inside the portal, click “Profile” from the left navigation menu.
B. Click “Physicians” from the Profile Information section. Click “Add Physician."
C. Enter the last and first name of your physician. Click “Search.”
D. Select your physician’s name. Verify the physician information and click “Select Physician.”
E. Review physician information and click “Save.”
F. Verify that your physician has been added to your list.
Contact your physician’s office with any questions or concerns regarding your medical information.
Contact Patient Registration at (858) 784-5660 to update your information.
At this time, the only demographics information (i.e., non-medication, non-physician) available for change in MyScripps is your patient email.

Health Information

Historical data is not available for viewing in MyScripps. Only information entered into the system from the time of enrollment will be viewable.
A Continuity of Care Document is a document that reflects your current information in your outpatient electronic medical record. It displays active health conditions, medications, vitals, immunizations, allergies, current non-restricted test results and procedures.
Historical data is not available at this time in MyScripps. Only non-restricted results that have been signed off by your physician after enrollment will be viewable in MyScripps.
Contact your physician’s office with any questions or concerns regarding your medical information.
No. Your available online health record only reflects outpatient services you have received as a Scripps Clinic or Scripps Coastal patient.

Send Messages to Provider

A. From inside the portal, click “Profile” from the left navigation menu.
B. Click “Physicians” from the Profile Information section. Click “Add Physician.”
C. Enter the last and first name of your physician. Click “Search.”
D. Select your physician’s name. Verify the physician information and click “Select Physician.”
E. Review physician information and click “Save.”
F. Verify that your physician has been added to your list.
A. From inside the portal, click “Ask a Question” from the left navigation menu.
B. Click the “Proceed.”
C. Enter required fields indicated. Click “Submit.”
D. Message limited to 500 characters.
E. No special characters such as /, \, #, -, etc.
F. Congratulations. Your message has been sent; staff will respond within two-three business days.
If you have manually added a physician (not used the search feature), MyScripps will not correspond that doctor to the physician you are attempting to contact. Please delete your manually added physicians and use the search tool to add him or her.
When messaging your provider's office via MyScripps, you can expect a response within 2-3 business days. If you need an immediate response, please call your provider's office directly.
The message must not exceed five hundred (500) characters.
A. From inside the portal, click “My Health” from the left navigation menu.
B. Hover over “Health Documents.” Click “Imported Documents.”
C. Any documents sent by your physician should now be displayed.
Yes. You can send the information from MyScripps to another physician so long as they are a part of the eHealth Exchange.
To send your MyScripps information, ask for your receiving’s physician’s Direct ID. From the My Health Summary page,
select the transmit Icon next to the document you want to send, input their secure email address and hit send.

Appointment Management

From inside the portal, click “Appointments” from the left navigation menu. All upcoming appointments scheduled within the next thirty days will be displayed here.
A. From inside the portal, click “Appointments” from the left navigation menu
B. Click the “Request An Appointment.”
C. Select the location where the appointment will take place. Click on the “Next.”
D. Select the physician that the appointment is for. Click on the “Next.”
E. Complete Schedule Office Appointment form. Click on the “Next.”
F. Review your appointment request details. If something is incorrect, use the “Previous” button(s) to navigation to the appropriate page to edit your information. If everything is correct, click on “Request Appointment.”
G. A confirmation message will appear that your request has been submitted.
Only appointments that occur within the next thirty (30) days appear. If your appointment is within the next thirty days and still does not appear, please contact your provider’s office.

Clinical Summaries

Clinical summaries are automatically available for enrolled patients after enrollment is complete (enrollment occurs when the issued PIN number is used to create a user name and password on MyScripps). Patients receive a Message notifying them of an available summary and its location.
Clinical summaries are available in the Imported Documents section of MyScripps. Imported Documents can be found using these steps:

A. From inside the portal, click “My Health” from the left navigation menu.
B. Hover over “Health Documents.” Click “Imported Documents.”
C. Any documents sent by your physician should now be displayed.

Prescription Management

A. From inside the portal, click “Profile” from the left navigation menu.
B. Click “Physicians” from the Profile Information section. Click “Add Physician.”
C. Enter the last and first name of your physician. Click “Search.”
D. Select your physician’s name. Verify the physician information and click “Select Physician.”
E. Review physician information and click “Save.”
F. Verify that your physician has been added to your list.
A. From inside the portal, click “Profile” from the left navigation menu.
B. Click “Pharmacies” from the Profile Information section. Click “Add Pharmacy.”
C. Complete the form, including the pharmacy’s name, address, and phone number. Click “Save.”
D. Verify that your pharmacy has been added to your profile.
A. From inside the portal, click “My Health” from the left navigation menu.
B. Scroll down to Medications & Supplements section. Click on “View all Medications & Supplements.”
C. If your medication or supplement does not appear in this menu, click on “Add Medication.”
D. Fill out the form in the pop-out box. When finished, click “Save Medication.”
E. Verify that your medication or supplement has been added.
A. From inside the portal, click “My Health” from the left navigation menu.
B. Scroll down to Medications & Supplements section. Click on “View all Medications & Supplements.”
C. Find the prescription to be renewed and click on the “Renew this prescription” icon that appears as a pill bottle on the right-most column.
D. Complete Prescription Renewal Form. Click “Submit.”
E. Congratulations! You have requested your prescription renewal.
The most common cause of this error is that the name of the medication contains a special character not recognized by MyScripps (such as \, /, %, #, etc.). If your message or medication contains these characters, please delete and resubmit.
If you have manually added a physician (not used the search feature), MyScripps will not correspond that doctor to the physician you are attempting to contact. Please delete your manually added physicians and use the search tool to add him or her.

View/Request Lab Results

A. From inside the portal, click “Profile” from the left navigation menu.
B. Click “Physicians” from the Profile Information section. Click “Add Physician.”
C. Enter the last and first name of your physician. Click “Search.”
D. Select your physician’s name. Verify the physician information and click “Select Physician.”
E. Review physician information and click “Save.”
F. Verify that your physician has been added to your list.
A. From inside the portal, click “My Health” from the left navigation menu.
B. Hover over “Health Records.” Click “Test Results.”
C. Available* test results will be displayed in MyScripps. These results that are:
- Non-restricted
- Electronically signed off by your physician
- Released after you have completed the enrollment process
Most lab results will be posted in 2-3 business days.
In order to appear in MyScripps, a lab results must be:
A. Signed off AFTER your enrollment date (the date in which you used your PIN in order to create a MyScripps account).
B. Not on the Restricted List
- CA Health and Safety 123148 prohibits the electronic transmission of HIV antibody tests, Hepatitis infection tests, abusing the use of drugs, tests related to routinely processed tissues (such as skin biopsies, pap smear tests, products of conception and bone marrow aspirations for morphological evaluation) if they reveal a malignancy.
- To comply, MyScripps prohibits the electronic transmission of cytology reports, pathology reports, all imaging reports, and document-based results.
C. If your Results were signed off on after your enrollment date (the date in which you used your PIN in order to create a MyScripps account) and your results are not under the restricted list, please contact your provider’s office.

Technical & Error Messages

Please check that your message does not contain any special characters such as /, \, #, %, etc. If these characters are present, please delete them in order to submit your information.
MyScripps notifies patients by email whenever there is a change, such as a document received.

To enroll in MyScripps and view your Hospital Summary of Care online, follow these steps:
A. Go to MyScripps: www.myscripps.org
B. Select “Enroll with PIN”
C. Read and acknowledge the Terms and Conditions. Select “Proceed"
D. Complete the required personal information fields indicated. Select “Next”
G. Create your username and password. (See tips below for username and password requirements). Answer at least three of the security questions. Select “Next”
H. Congratulations. Your profile has successfully been created.
Username Tips:

To access your Hospital Summary of Care, select “My Hospital Summary” from the left navigation bar.
Select "Health Documents" and "Imported Records" from the drop down list in the grey ribbon
A preliminary summary will be available 36 hours after discharge and a final summary will be available seven days after discharge.

MyScripps has additional functionality that is available only to Scripps Clinic and Scripps Coastal patients.
No. Only physicians with Scripps Medical Foundation offices at Scripps Clinic and Scripps Coastal locations can receive messages through MyScripps. Hospitalists cannot receive messages in MyScripps.
